Our Story

What a difference a humble biscuit can make!

Aussie Biscuits is an Aruma business, providing employment for people with a disability for over 40 years from our biscuit factory in Forbes.

We’re a very Aussie biscuit – made in Australia and creating opportunities for Australian’s with a disability. We first started production in 1976 producing Jam Drop biscuits in our Forbes factory.

The Jam Drop biscuits were lovingly made by hand, scooping the biscuit dough and placing them on rack oven trays. We made approx. 600 biscuits per day back then.

Today we produce thousands of biscuits a day (still made with love) and continue to create employment opportunities for people with a disability.

Our products are delicious! We make quality biscuits for the retail market, hospitality industry and fundraising groups.

There are 6 delicious flavours to choose from and a variety of packaging options to treat your staff, customers… or even give your own sweet tooth a workout.

Buying Aussie Biscuits will feel as good as our delicious biscuits taste. That’s because every biscuit purchased creates opportunities for people with a disability to live a good life.

Your purchase will have a positive impact on the people we support and demonstrate the ethical values of your organisation. Buying your day to day products from a social enterprise will make a big difference in your community.

Choose from our Counter box, hamper gifts and more, with a socially responsible product delivered to your door.

About Aruma

We might have a new name, but we’re not the new kids on the block. You once knew us as House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation – two great organisations, with over 100 years of combined experience, who came together in 2018.

Yes, we’re a disability service provider, but we’re also so much more.

We’re the helper, mentor and coach. And the trusted partner of around 5000 people with a disability throughout the east coast of Australia.

Aruma is here for the new age, the new world of disability support – the NDIS world.

Aruma puts you, our customers, first.

We never use a one-size-fits-all approach. You know how to live your best life – we’re here to support you to do just that.

Our focus is always fully on you.

You. First.

The literal meaning of Aruma

Aruma has its roots in languages and cultures from all over the world.

It means a happy place, to plough the land, being real and true, and the calm time between sunset and sunrise – when the body and soul renews for a new day.

Aruma also has U – our customers – at the very centre. Literally.

But more importantly, Aruma is what we make it.

Aruma raises the bar higher. Aruma is a human rights warrior. Aruma is bold. Aruma is brave.

Our purpose

Our Purpose is why we exist. It’s what brings us joy and what will keep us going both now and into the future.
